Pau Cubarsí Paredes (Estanyol, January 22, 2007) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a defender for F.C. Barcelona in the Spanish Primera División. He is an international with the Spanish national football team.
Cubarsi’s Career
Born on January 22, 2007, in Estanyol, a village belonging to the municipality of Bescanó in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain, he began his career at Girona FC before signing with F.C. Barcelona in 2018. After progressing through the youth academy, he became the third youngest Barcelona player to debut in the UEFA Youth League, behind Lamine Yamal and Ilaix Moriba, when he started in a 1-1 draw with F.C. Viktoria Plzeň.
In April 2023, he trained with the first team for the first time, called up by coach Xavi Hernández. He signed his first professional contract with the club three months later, on July 8. He was included in Barcelona’s preseason squad for the 2023-24 season.
He made his first-team debut in the Copa del Rey against Unionistas de Salamanca F.C. on January 18, 2024, and provided an assist during the match. Three days later, he debuted in the league against Real Betis, playing 80 minutes.
Cubarsi made his UEFA Champions League debut on March 12, 2024, in the second leg of the round of 16 against S.S.C. Napoli and was named MVP of the match.
On February 14, 2025, F.C. Barcelona announced the renewal of his contract until 2029 with a release clause of approximately 500 million euros. That season, he was a regular in the Azulgrana defense and a key player in securing the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles.
National Team
On October 24, 2023, he was selected in José Lana’s final squad to represent Spain in the U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
On March 15, 2024, Cubarsi was selected for the first time by Luis de la Fuente to represent the senior Spanish national team in friendly matches preparing for Euro 2024 against Colombia and Brazil.
